SKIN CONCERNS 101
A destination for education to help you manage your everyday skin concerns
Discover how to care for your skin this winter from head to toe with CeraVe.
From a drop in temperature, to harsh winds and central heating, your skin faces a whole new set of challenges in the winter months. You might find that winter skin feels more sensitive than usual with patches of dryness across your forehead and cheeks, or the skin on your body and hands suffers the most.
Whatever your skin concerns are this winter, our CeraVe hydrating skincare range is here to help.
Winter skin requires a hydrating and gentle cleanser to prepare the skin for the rest of the products that follow. This first winter skincare step also adds must-needed moisture to help protect the barrier from external aggressors.
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is suitable for use in the morning and in the evening to cleanse away any debris and dirt from your day. It’s ideal for dry skin in winter as it’s formulated with the humectant Hyaluronic Acid – an ingredient that attracts water to the skin’s surface while helping to lock it in. MVE Delivery Technology also supplies the skin with a steady stream of nourishment throughout the day and night while ceramides help to maintain a healthy skin barrier that’s essential for locking in skin moisture.
This makes it great at keeping the skin soft and supple, smoothing away signs of ageing and plumping up the surface of the skin. It’s also ultra-gentle and lightweight so everyone – regardless of their skin type – can benefit from it.
A happy, hydrated complexion is a glowing one. Once you’ve laid the groundwork with a hydrating cleanser, you can apply a protective moisturiser to the face to trap in all of those essential lipids and give a lacklustre complexion a glowing boost.
CeraVe AM Moisturising Facial Lotion is a daily moisturising lotion which enriches the skin with three essential ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid and MVE Delivery Technology (for 24-hour controlled release hydration). It also contains SPF 25 to protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.
In the evening after cleansing, you should follow with a moisturiser such as CeraVe PM Facial Moisturising Lotion. Specifically suited for sensitivity, which can cause itchy skin in winter, this moisturising lotion comforts dry, dehydrated complexions and delivers controlled, long-lasting hydration as you sleep. Just what you need after a day of harsh, cold temperatures.
It isn’t just the skin on your face that needs moisture during winter. The body can often be forgotten about when bundled beneath cosy winter layers. Ensure the skin on your body is soft and smooth all over with CeraVe’s Moisturising Cream , a rich quick-drying cream that your dry skin will appreciate. It’s suitable for dry to very dry skin types and can also be used by those prone to eczema.
Excessive hand washing has become the norm. Coupled with cold temperatures, it can leave your hands feeling dry, rough and sometimes even cracked. Keep them moisturised with CeraVe Reparative Hand Cream , which contains essential ceramides to maintain the skin’s protective barrier and Hyaluronic Acid to retain moisture. Apply every night before bed, throughout the day after hand washing and as needed.
SPF is non-negotiable whatever the season. Just because you may not see the sun as often in the colder months, your skin still needs protecting from UV damage. While there are less UVB rays that can cause your skin to burn, UVA rays, which can penetrate into the dermis to cause longer-lasting damage and premature skin ageing, are ever present. If you’re hitting the slopes this winter, snow’s reflective nature could also expose you to direct sunlight, so don’t forget to layer on a high SPF 50, broad-spectrum protection.
